Lesson 1 Reflection Activities

Completion requirements

The four marks of a Shepherd are:

  • Know their sheep
  • Feed their sheep
  • Lead their sheep
  • Protect their sheep

When we take a holistic approach to these four marks, the area where we have the most strength in shepherding supplements the areas that we are not good at. This means that our first step should be a self assessment of our strengths and weaknesses with regard to these 4 marks.

  1. Order these marks from your greatest strength to your least strength. (Put #1 for greatest, and #4 for least). Which marks do you have most confidence in, and which marks may intimidate you?
  2. Next, for each mark, list some of the practical activities that you can do to help you exemplify that mark in your own leadership scenario.
  3. Identify a specific person who is a shepherd to you. If you cannot identify any specific person currently, can you identify someone that you might like to start being a shepherd to you? Write down some characteristics of that person that illustrate how they accomplish each of the 4 shepherding marks.
  4. Add your submission below.
