Thank you so much for sharing, and for your vulnerability in doing so. These topics are so real, especially as we walk through them in life. Reading your story about your grandmother, and then reflecting on the more orthodox view, it is incredible to realise the peace we have in knowing that Jesus truly is our only door. Once we die, we enter into that intermediate state in His presence if we are believers, and this gives us profound assurance about the future. As Scripture says in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, we do not mourn like the world, but we mourn with those who have hope—a deeply comforting reality.
