I think all sin breaks the Father’s heart. The corruption of something he intended for good is a heartbreaking thing. However I too grew up under such phrases like, “all sin is equal” and “sin is sin”. The content from the video paired with the words from the assigned reading bring a lot of clarity to those vague statements. While there is not necessarily a hierarchy of sins, there are multiple ways to categorize them and this helps with the understanding of why they are bad. Imagine trying to explain to a non believer that a child fibbing breaks the heart of God at the same exact level as a murder, or a worse act. Knowing that all sin is “corrupted good” as the text says, helps bring understanding to those areas. I think it’s the corruption that breaks his heart equally. Knowing that the ones he made in his image are not experiencing life the way he intended must bring a level of sorrow with it. And if God experiences grief and sorrow like we do, I am sure there are levels of severity to that.

The clarifications of State, Act, and Infirmity are great places to start when defining Sin. The text even breaks down those categories into subcategories which provides even more in depth descriptions as well. But no matter how a sin is categorized or summarized, we must still bear the burden of it. “...we bear guilt on two levels: original sin and personal sin…” This requires action in order to achieve reconciliation and as we will further discuss I'm sure, God puts a plan in place to reconcile the burden of that weight. He does not wish for us to live under this burden, and is willing to do whatever it takes to free us from it. The love for us is so great, he offers the sacrifice of his own son. This should give us even more of an understanding of how much he loves us.
