
This lesson continues our examination of biblical teaching on the immigrant and foreigner in our midst with a look at philoxenia or “hospitality” in the New Testament. As it turns out, this is not about entertaining our friends or even people like us. It had a specific connotation of welcoming and helping those who were foreign to a location. The lesson also explores some other blind spots we may have in carrying out this biblical instruction, especially when our own cultural assumptions can get in the way.
