Did you know that you can study a word from the original Hebrew or Greek Bible using blueletterbible.org? You go to a passage with the word in it – or you search for the word. Then you click on “Tools.” While you probably will not know the Hebrew or Greek that then pops up, you can scroll down until you find the English that translates the original word. There’s a number by it. If you click on that number and scroll down to the bottom, you will find all the places in that Testament where the word appears.

Feel free to explore this tool. In conjunction with this lesson, here is a link to the entry for the Hebrew word gar, which means foreigner. You can ignore the material at the top, but scroll down to the bottom where the various references to the foreigner are in the Old Testament. Read through those verses. You may even want to go look at the contexts in which those verses appear.
