Assignment

My Commitment

Completion requirements

A pastor should be committed to the highest standard of ethical integrity. In this assignment, you will write a personal commitment statement outlining your personal ethical convictions as a minister/leader. Your response should engage both biblical principles and practical applications of ethical leadership in ministry.

Consider the following areas that you might engage in your statement:

  • Personal Spiritual Discipline – How will you cultivate prayer, Scripture study, and holiness in your daily life? (1 Timothy 4:7-8, Psalm 119:11)
  • Devotion to Family – How will you prioritize your spouse, children, and home life while balancing ministry responsibilities? (1 Timothy 3:4-5, Ephesians 5:25)
  • Sexual Ethics – How will you maintain moral purity and set boundaries to guard against temptation? (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4)
  • Financial Integrity – How will you practice honest stewardship of church and personal finances? (Luke 16:10-11, 1 Timothy 6:10)
  • Transparency & Accountability – How will you remain open and accountable to leadership, congregation, and peers? (Proverbs 27:17, James 5:16)
  • Teachability & Humility – How will you ensure that you remain humble and open to correction throughout your ministry? (Proverbs 11:2, Philippians 2:3-4)
  • Treatment of Others – How will you lead with compassion, fairness, and justice in your relationships? (Micah 6:8, John 13:34-35)

In at least 600 words, write a formal commitment to pastoral ethics, addressing several if not all of the areas above and any additional ethical areas you consider important. Your statement should include the biblical basis for your commitments and realistic strategies for how you plan to live them out as a leader. This assignment is worth 40 points.
