Assignment

Submission: Team Health Assessment

Completion requirements

Every ministry leader eventually discovers this truth: no matter how gifted or visionary you are, your effectiveness rises or falls with your team. Healthy teams multiply ministry. Unhealthy teams drain energy, stall momentum, and even damage trust in leadership. This final assignment challenges you to take everything you've learned in this course. Consider communication, conflict, collaboration, credibility, and vision, and apply them to the vital task of team leadership.

Whether you analyze a team you currently lead, one you've observed, or a hypothetical team in a church setting, your goal is to assess its current health and craft a thoughtful plan to either strengthen or sustain its effectiveness. This is where leadership becomes practical, relational, and deeply transformational.

Select a ministry team (real or hypothetical) and write a 600–800 word assessment of its health and functionality. Then, propose a plan to improve or sustain that team’s effectiveness using concepts from this course.

Your assessment should include:

  1. Team Overview
    • What is the team’s purpose and structure?
    • How do they relate to the broader church mission?
  2. Strengths and Challenges
    • What are the team’s communication dynamics, leadership structure, and trust levels?
    • What are the signs of healthy or unhealthy behavior?
  3. Action Plan
    • What specific steps would you take to strengthen this team?
    • Consider roles, communication strategies, decision-making practices, or leadership development efforts
