Discussion: Is Character Important?

Completion requirements

In this discussion, consider the role of character in pastoral leadership. To what extent are moral integrity, humility, and personal holiness important qualifications for a pastor? Or might effectiveness in preaching, administration, and church growth allow some moral wiggle room? “We make some allowances for pastors who are successful”?

Does God sometimes smile on pastoral leaders with questionable personal character? Support your perspective with Scripture, historical examples, or personal observations. Please ensure your initial post is at least 300 words.

Then, after making your initial post, read through the responses of others in the forum and make at least three follow-up comments. These responses should contribute meaningfully to the discussion, whether by asking insightful questions, providing additional examples or perspectives, or challenging ideas respectfully. Each follow-up comment should be at least 100 words. This discussion is worth 25 points.
